AMR Accepting Applications for Award-Winning "Earn While You Learn" Program in Phoenix

12.10.2021

AMR now offering residents a cost-free way to begin a rewarding career in EMS.
As the EMS industry continues to face down a nationwide staffing shortage, American Medical Response (AMR) announced today that it is hiring two new classes of EMTs and will pay them for on-the-job training in Phoenix.

The company’s award-winning Earn While You Learn program is designed to ease the transition for those wanting to become EMS professionals. Participants are hired as employees and compensated while attending AMR’s EMT-Basic certification course. Upon successful completion of the program and obtaining their state certification, participants are promoted to EMT-B, with a commensurate pay increase.

“We are incredibly proud to bring our award-winning Earn While You Learn program to Arizona,” said Todd Jaramillo, Regional Director for AMR. “We recognize the challenges that schooling can present to those who also need to work to support themselves and their family. This program offers a way for those with no experience in EMS to become full-time EMTs while still receiving a paycheck.”

Earn While You Learn is an opportunity to help the community while supporting the Arizona economy. The program has proved wildly successful for those hoping to start a career in EMS and has been recognized nationally by the American Ambulance Association.

AMR has a total of 48 spots available in its two upcoming Earn While You Learn academies. Jaramillo shared that the incoming students have been warmly deemed the “Great 48” by AMR officials after the number of program openings and the state of Arizona.
