Senior Chief EMS Officer Greg Sim to Retire after Nearly Five Decades of Service.

After 45 years of dedicated public service in the EMS industry, Senior Chief EMS officer Greg Sim has announced his retirement from American Medical Response (AMR) Seattle, effective December 17, 2021.

“It is hard to put Greg’s career and his accomplishments into summation, but he will be missed tremendously,” said Randy Strozyk, Senior Vice President for AMR parent company, Global Medical Response. “During his tenure, he has played a significant role in the development of increasingly successful partnerships with fire departments within King County. In addition, Greg has been instrumental to the evolution of our Seattle operations, serving in a variety of leadership roles these past 45 years. All of us at GMR and AMR are truly grateful to Greg for being a great role model and for his constant dedication, friendship and service to his colleagues and the community. We wish him well in his retirement.”

Sim began his career with AMR in 1976, working as an EMT. Throughout his time in Seattle, he has served as a Field Training Officer, Operations Supervisor, Communications Director, Operations Manager, Senior Chief EMS Officer, and therapy dog handler. Following his retirement, Sim will transition his duties as the handler for the GMR therapy dog, Bella, to Erica Henry, an EMT with AMR Seattle.

“It has been an honor to serve the Seattle community these past 45 years,” said Sim. “This job has been a transformative journey for me, and I have lived every emotion possible. I am incredibly proud of the work that I have done with the Seattle Fire Department and my role on the GMR Therapy Dog team. In my retirement, I look forward to spending more time with my family and taking this new adventure day-by-day with my wife.”
